Amber Grise Art
Welcome to my art page, here you will find a portfolio of my works.
I create from a depth that is my inner artist. It is my intention to paint every day, to create and to bring to life my characters; my blue rabbits, my unicorns and any other creature that beckons me to make them visible. I share them with others to spread the message of Love and Make-Believe!
I create because I want to share my experience with the people who desire my art; to inspire emotion that resonates with them when they see something I have created.
I love animals for their innocence and for their unyielding and constant love without conditions. I love the mystical, the animals and good spirits that are just behind the veil, waiting patiently to be introduced.
I feel that ping when I paint or sketch an idea that has been brought to me through dreams or day thoughts. I feel compelled to create what I am asked to by my paints, brushes, canvases and the intuition that binds us together. Freedom fuels my painting. It is an honor to have a talent to express what I feel and know. I want to thank you for loving what I do and for sharing the experience with me- from my heart to my canvas to yours.
As far as I can remember it all started when I was three, I was in Love with horses and was already riding as a tot.
Then came all the crayon drawings of every horse I saw in books, on TV, in real-life and of course my imaginary horse friends. Then it expanded to Rabbits, cats, and so on. I was now hooked on drawing all creatures including the invisible ones.
I became known as the girl who drew horses, and to this day people will approach me and say, do you still draw horses?
My first big foray into the being a visible artist I was probably 6 and it was the biggest cotton candy rabbit that took over an entire window pane of the Burger King. My family all gathered around and took photos.
I became the class artist and taught many of my peers in our weekly classes. I was a teacher even as a student.
Then came the Art classes at the museum. We were drawing shapes and shadows and shading. I made my half oval into a watermelon with a mouse nibbling the seeds. I made a whale swim in the circle like a pool.
When my Gammy picked me up they told her not to bring me back, I couldn't follow instructions. Been that way ever since.
My dad told me I could be anything I wanted to be.
Onward into the years, through middle school I covered every inch of my book covers with horses and I relished the safety of the art room early before school, during break and lunch too.
Then I put down the magic tools, I became angry.
I did go to college and retained a 4 year degree graphic arts and design.
I became a vinyl graphics technician, I put graphics on everything from police cruisers to airport signs, some big jobs and many small detailed jobs.
Then it happened, I lost my sign making job and was set free (I didn't think so at the time) but now I was to discover my Artist calling once again.
Today my art is Big as Life and full of Fire. Most paintings boast wild eyed guardians with smoke bellowing from their nostrils, or various forms of fire in manes or backgrounds. In every white canvas is a spark waiting to be ignited.
You will find a common crew among my drawings, sketches and paintings, the Little Mouse(Punka), My blue Rabbits (Harvey claims title to Head Rabbit) The Spirit horses that roam freely in my mind, and my Mythical creations that ask me to bring them to the light for you to see....
